The Gadsden Alumnae Chapter was chartered on December 20, 1976, with 12 members at Gallilee Baptist Church by then Regional Director, Yvonne Kennedy. It was named Gadsden Alumnae Chapter to include Gadsden and the surrounding area, specifically Etowah County.

After being chartered, the chapter held a brief orientation meeting to elect officers. Bertha Gadson was elected president. That first meeting was followed by a reception.
